Appropriate $100,000 to revenue account 001-0000-369-7018 Insurance Recovery (Anticipated through Negotiation with Insurance Carrier).

Staff recommends approval to waive the competitive solicitation process and award this purchase to Metal Shark of Jeanerette, LA.

The City has worked with its insurance broker to obtain recovery for the police boat hull that was damaged in an accident on December 31, 2018.

Procurement was directed to seek pricing from Brunswick Commercial & Government Products and Metal Shark for the replacement of the 24" Brunswick Dauntless hull, removal of salvageable City marine equipment/motor and installation of same on a new boat.

Procurement was notified by Brunswick they are currently under a corporate restructuring and would not be able to submit a response for 4-6 weeks or until the restructure process was complete.  The only product they could offer, which is similar to the Brunswick Dauntless, would not accommodate the fire pump, dive door and other features would not be available.

Metal Shark has a model that is comparable with the Brunswick Dauntless 24'.  Their offer includes a trade-in for the City's Brunswick Dauntless hull for a total price of $100,000.00.
