Title: Program to allow use of docks during seawall repairs

City Council approved a program which allows a property owner the ability to use another resident's dock during the time that their seawall is under repair due to damage caused by Hurricane Irma. Section 3.4 of the Land Development Regulations (General Single-Family Residential District) states that "owners or occupants of the adjacent upland property may not rent docks to be used by third parties." The City has approved the program due to the impact of a storm event and in an attempt to assist residents in securing their boats while repairs are being made to their damaged seawall.  The City is not attempting to make a permanent amendment to existing regulations. Therefore, an emergency ordinance will be presented to City Council at its November 1 meeting to allow such a program during the timeframe for the seawall repairs to be undertaken in Punta Gorda Isles and Burnt Store Isles.
